Dishonest Auto Body Shop: Apollo Paint and Body
I gave my business to a guy who seemed honest and sincere. Unfortunately, the guy who runs the office, manager Robert Cross is a jerk (Hwy 6 location). They gave me a loaner car and estimated my repair job to be about $600. The loaner car broke down while I was on the highway. Due to city regulations in Houston which doesn't allow stalled vehicles on the shoulders of freeways, a tow truck towed me to a nearby street (which was a bad neighborhood).
When I called Apollo about the broken down car, no one answered. They didn't even have an answering machine. I was finally able to reach one of their wreckers, after making 30-40 calls on my cell phone. His wrecker told me to leave it there and he'll get it later. It was getting dark and a police officer told me that I should not be standing out in this neighborhood especially after dark. That I was like a sitting duck.
I called Apollo's wrecker and warned him about the situation since Apollo doesn't have a answering machine. I told him pick it up right away.
Next thing I knew on Monday, Apollo said I needed to pay for their lost car about $9,000 and that they would not release my car until I did so. Not only did they put me in a dangerous situation with a unreliable vehicle, they are now wanting me to pay for old jalopy because their wrecker didn't want to pick it up until Monday -2 days later.
I had to jump through hoops to get my car back. I called around and found out the police had impounded the car because it was left there for several days -- called in by the same officer who told me not to stand around there. Apollo made me pay an extra $700 hundred dollars to my $600 bill in CASH before they would release my car. Part of this ridiculous $700 charge was a $234 dollar towing fee. I've never seen anyone charge that much for towing let alone being charged towing because their car broke down and making me pay for it. By the way, it was their wrecker service who did the towing.
This is one of the most dishonest places I've ever done business with. Additional known complaints. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) has found this company unsatisfactory yet Apollo still puts the BBB sign of approval on their counters as if they are still in good standing in an attempt to fool new customers.
